Week 5: (12/09/15)
Health and Safety Implications
Health and safety is essential for this type of
animation, this is because the creation of this product will involve me in
using different types of equipment and resources, and therefore I will have to
be careful with. The Health and safety act set in 1974; thus provides Health
and safety for ‘students’ and ‘employees’. The teachers or employers have to
inform people about hazards and how they could prevent them and I have the
responsibility to follow these rules. This is done so that there is a less
chance of accidents to occur and it is important to prevent this as there are
deadlines which I need to meet for this animation. Therefore, knowing
before-hand in ways to prevent these types of incidence is time efficient. This is one of the many examples which I completed.
COMPUTER
SCREEN
RISK: Looking at the screen
for too long will cause eye strain and lead on to having a headache.
SOLUTION: In order to prevent this I could adjust the
screen’s brightness or I could take a break and gaze at something else.
However, I need to make sure not to distract myself and that I should then
remain focused on the work
MOUSE&KEYBOARD
RISK: Repetitive strain injury (RSI).
This is due to the continuous movement of clicking on the mouse and typing on
the keyboard.
SOLUTION: It is important to take
breaks and perhaps do something else in order to avoid injuries.
Whilst
working on the computer it is important not to have any materials around, for
example books, this is because they may get tangled with the cables. In order
to prevent this, it is best to keep everything away from the computer and have
everything organized. As well as this another important risk to consider is foods
and drinks. They must be kept away from the computer as the spillage of any
sugary or fizzy drinks will cause either both electrical and/or physical damage.
Therefore it is important to keep any liquids and foods away from devices.

Computer

Medium-
The computer will be the most used equipment throughout the creation of my
production. This is where I will be able to access the internet in order to
research images and use software to create the animation. These files will
all be saved onto the computer and into the USB/Hard-drive. However If it is
the case that the computer may have broken down whilst I was working on a
document there is risk of losing everything, therefore I should make sure to
save the document regularly when making new changes. I will also have to
access other computers which are either in school or in a local library.
